School Development Officers
- Charles Roscoe, Bernadette O’Shea, Matthew Williams
The main aim of the School Development officers is to provide a link between schools, colleges and
Higher Education Institutions, not only locally but also regionally and nationally.
The development officers work primarily with 22 target schools in Warrington and Cheshire and in
addition offer help and support to the widening participation (WP) cohort in non-target schools.
The development officers in partnership with the schools and colleges identify the needs of young people
(14-19) to ensure the provision of targeted and appropriate activities to encourage aspirations,
attainment and awareness of all progression routes into higher education.
Examples of activities include:
- Taster days
- Enrichment activities
- Master classes
- Induction days
- Study skills
- Higher Education talks to schools
- Preparation for Higher Education
- Revision classes
