About Us
- Structure of Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington
The governments aim is to increase participation in higher education towards 50% of those aged 18-30, by the end of the decade. Also, to make significant progress year on year towards fair access, and to bear down on rates of non-completion. If this is to happen, it is critical that more of our young people who come from families and communities, with no background in HE are able to enter universities and other institutions.
Aimhigher can provide funding and resources to help deliver activities to;
- Raise awareness of HE
- Provide information and guidance about HE
- Raise the aspirations and motivation of young people
- Raise attainment through curriculum enrichment activities
- Support the development of clear progression routes to HE
These activities are not only aimed at young people in full time education but also those in part time education, training and/or employment, raising expectations of students and teachers alike.
Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington works in partnership with schools, colleges, higher education institutions, work based learners and the local business community to motivate and inspire young people enabling them to progress to higher education
Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington is unique in that it has chosen to work primarily in four employment areas. These areas have been identified by The North West Development Agency as areas of skills shortages. These are the:
- Creative Industries,
- Health and Social Care,
- Science, Engineering and Construction,
- Business, Finance and IT
